Joining the Lab
D. E. Shaw Research has made a conscious effort to slowly and deliberately
build a small team of truly extraordinary contributors rather than assembling a
larger group of individuals who are simply "very good." We welcome inquiries
from candidates of all backgrounds and levels of experience who display
evidence of exceptional ability, and are as selective in our hiring of support
personnel as we are in identifying gifted scientists and engineers. To learn more about what
it's like to work at D. E. Shaw Research click

Diversity and Inclusion
As an organization, we believe our strength lies not only in
the talent of our individual team members but in our collective
support of a diverse and inclusive workplace and in our commitment
to fostering a collaborative, collegial, and flexible environment in
which all of us can do our best work. We embrace diversity along all
dimensions, and respect and value the unique qualities,
perspectives, and identities of every person in our group.
Current Opportunities
A few of the areas in which we currently have particular needs are outlined
below. It's worth noting, however, that we are generally less interested in
hiring someone to fill a particular "slot" than in attracting extraordinarily
capable individuals who are likely to make significant contributions to our
efforts over the long term. For that reason, we are open to considering
unusually well-qualified applicants even if none of these particular positions
seems like an immediate match.
D. E. Shaw Research also welcomes summer internship applications from undergraduate and graduate students from a range of technical disciplines. More information about our internship program is outlined on the page below:
Individuals interested in full-time and internship pursuing opportunities with D. E. Shaw
